Easy apple sauce
It's so quick and easy… throw some apples in a roasting tin, pop them in the oven and then blitz once they’re cooked.
Great with roasted pork. Just as great for breakfast with yoghurts, fruit and granola. How'd you like them apples 😬
Prep time: 10 mins
Cook time: 30 mins
Makes: A jar full
Ingredients
2 large bramley apples
2 tspns caster sugar
2 sprigs of thyme
Pinch of salt and pepper
Method
Turn the oven on and up to 130'c.
Peel and core the apples before chopping them into small-ish chunks. Pop them in a roasting tin and sprinkle the sugar evenly to coat.
Pick the thyme leaves and scatter over the apples, adding a pinch of salt and pepper.
Add a large splash of cold water to the tin and give it all a shake before putting it into the oven for half an hour.
Allow to cool for 5 minutes, tip it all into a blender and whizz it up for at least a minute, until it's a perfect, saucy consistency.
TIPS
Try to keep your apple chunks a consistent size so that they cook evenly.
To core an apple with a normal knife, simply quarter it and then cut out the middle strip of apple core for each quarter.
For sweets/breakfast instead of savoury, swap out the thyme for a small pinch of cinammon.
